A valley of healing waters and pure energy in the heart of the Peruvian Andes
Set amidst mountains and traversed by crystal-clear rivers, Churín Thermal Baths are a natural paradise where the earth’s purest energy emerges as warm, steaming, medicinal springs. This enchanting Andean destination combines stunning natural beauty, ancient traditions, and holistic wellness, drawing travelers in search of rest, rejuvenation, and a genuine connection with nature.
Where We Are & How to Get Here
The hot springs are located in the Churín Valley, Pachangara District, Oyón Province, in the Lima region, at approximately 2,260 meters above sea level
Churín is nestled among lush green mountains and deep valleys, with a temperate climate that makes it ideal to visit any time of the year.
Access is by road: from Lima city, the journey takes between 4 and 5 hours via the Sayán–Churín route, a scenic crossing that passes through fields, canyons, and rural villages. The road is mostly paved and safe, although it has some short unpaved sections (gravel/dirt road) between Sayán and Churín. We recommend traveling during the day to enjoy the rural landscapes peacefully
Highlights of the Area
The Churín Hot Springs are famous for their mineral composition and therapeutic properties. They emerge at temperatures ranging from 35°C to 60°C, and their waters are rich in cobalt, iron, and magnesium—ideal for rejuvenating the skin and relieving physical fatigue
The thermal complex consists of several sets of baths:
Each complex provides a distinct experience, ranging from rustic natural baths to well-equipped facilities, all while keeping you closely connected to nature.
Local Flora
Churín Valley’s vegetation blends Andean species with those of the “ceja de sierra.” Eucalyptus, molle, alder trees, and wildflowers line the paths, filling the air with refreshing aromas. Along the Huaura River, you’ll find cloud forests and natural pastures where horses and local livestock roam freely.
Wildlife
The area around Churín is home to hummingbirds, thrushes, swallows, and small high-Andean birds. In the higher ravines, Andean foxes and viscachas can be seen. With its rich diversity of insects, butterflies, and birds, Churín is a fantastic place for those who enjoy observing nature.
Activities to Enjoy
Environmental Importance
Churín’s thermal valley belongs to a unique Andean ecosystem, where underground hot springs emerge naturally due to the area’s geological and climatic balance.
Protecting these springs helps safeguard not just a valuable natural resource, but also the cultural and spiritual heritage cherished by local communities since pre-Inca times.
